Case study

Milk crate recycling

Toll processing for circular production

Stacks of plastic crates and pallets for recycling

The challenge

A milk crate manufacturer approached Repro Plastics looking for a more responsible solution for damaged and rejected crates. The company wanted to avoid sending the materials to landfill but needed a practical recycling route that would also make financial sense.

Our solution

Working closely with the manufacturer, we developed a toll processing solution. The damaged crates were transported to our Buckingham facility where they were processed into clean plastic granulate. Because the material quality was maintained, the recycled plastic could be reused directly in new crate production without further compounding.

This approach reduced disposal costs, preserved the value of the material and supported the company’s environmental commitments.

The outcome

A closed-loop recycling solution allowing plastic crates to be recycled and reused in new production.
